I woke up feeling spicier than a Carolina reaper 🌶 so it's time to speak up about a certain set of issues that have been on my mind: 🧿 There's a low barrier to entry and high level of saturation in the belly dance industry right now. 🧿 Clients are getting overwhelmed by too many choices, deciding we're all the same, and choosing performers based on price rather than style, professionalism and overall fit. 🧿 Some dancers are catering to these lowball offers and unrealistic demands, skewing expectations across the board, devaluing the art and the industry These last few months I've seen a flooding of last-minute inquiries from clients who were ghosted or otherwise let down by their cheap entertainment. I've had venue owners complain to myself and other dance colleagues that they were "tricked" into hiring amateurs in the past. I can't always help clients who were left high and dry and are scrambling for a replacement...but if you're currently in the process of finding an entertainer, I can help you make smarter choices and avoid being that person.
