  • A friendly wedding season PSA. Did you know that entertainment is the one thing wedding guests say they remember most about the reception? It's also the one thing couples regret not researching, planning and budgeting enough for. Don't be a statistic. While there are a myriad of low-priced belly dancers (and "belly dancers" provided by questionable talent agencies - that's another rant), the truth of the matter is that quality is much harder to find. And yes, it's also more expensive. Do you want a talented, engaging performer who knows how to put on a show AND work the crowd? Do you want a dancer who can geek out over multiple genres of music and make a bangin' playlist for your party no matter where you're from and what gets you moving? Do you want a real entertainer who can up the ante or tone it down a notch depending on how wild or mild your crowd is? Do you want someone who respects your culture and your occasion and makes even your most conservative family members feel comfortable? Be prepared to pay for it. Don't trust your memories to an amateur performer, a total random with no track record of doing weddings, a go-go dancer with a cheap costume, your Zumba instructor, etc. Ask your wedding vendors for recommendations (and listen!), do your research, and put just as much love and care into hiring a dancer as you would any other aspect of your wedding. Your wedding day will someday pass you by and all you'll have left are memories.
